Celsa Steel Service appre­ciates innova­tiveness

Celsa Steel Service is Finland’s leading reinforcement product manufacturer and distributor. The company buys scrap metal, which is then melted and used to produce reinforced concrete. Some of the steel is sold as it is and some is processed into steel mesh, for example. Celsa Steel Service offers its customers alternative design service to help them with the development of their processes.

 

Product manager Mika Hurtig, who is responsible for the sales of element industry accessories at Celsa Steel Services, explains that the company’s steel is environmentally friendly, with the industry’s smallest carbon footprint.

 

In 2017, feedback given to the company by its customers indicated that there was clear demand for ring spacers, which the company had yet to include in its product range. Celsa began to look for a contract manufacturer. After thorough consideration of several candidates, the company opted for Wiitta.

 

“Wiitta made an impression with its focus on customer needs and desire to understand the customer’s situation. Right from the start, they introduced their own ideas, making it feel like true collaboration,” explains Hurtig.

 

Celsa was also happy to see that Wiitta challenged some of the company’s processes. Room for improvement was identified in surprising areas, Hurtig says.

 

“They highlighted many practices where we had gotten into a rut, like packaging. In the end, Wiitta proposed a solution that benefited all parties, including the end customer.”

 

Trust gives rise to synergy

 

Over the past couple of years, the collaboration has deepened, and the trust that has been created between the companies makes their work together even more seamless. This has helped the companies deal with any challenges that have cropped up along the way.

 

“When you are working on a long project, it’s not always like in films, but we have always met any challenges head on and dealt with them. To me, it’s important that as a customer, we have been listened to and our needs have been taken into account. This becomes evident if we contact Wiitta after a longer break; they refer to topics we brought up in our last conversation and often offer potential solutions to the issues,” says Hurtig.

 

Celsa is happy to continue the fruitful collaboration. In the future, the companies also plan to develop solutions that will result in even closer collaboration.

 

“The more we learn from each other’s processes, the more synergy there is.”
